I have the honor to report that

on the 22nd ultime the Executive Council met to consider the sentences of four Chinese who had been condemned to death in the Supreme Court for wilful murder on the

16th, and the Chief Justice was specially summoned to attend the Council.

These four criminals, named

respectively Chong-hum sow ; Kwok cuck-lap Ung-apow, and Lam-ayow, had gone

of the

: armed

on board a small vessel in one harbours of this island to commit robbery,

and there deliberately murdered another Chinese, whom three of them held down
